If you live at the Villages at Huntington, you should have received an important email blast on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Below is the content of that email:

As in the past few years, lifted, cracked sidewalks throughout the community, resulting from extensive root growth of improperly planted trees will be replaced because of the tripping hazards they present.  Unfortunately, the trees will continue to cause problems because there is not enough room for the root growth of the type and size of trees that were  planted.  This is a common problem on Long Island. Builders/landscapers plant the fastest growing trees they can when a community is new for immediate satisfaction, while ignoring the science and long term effects.
As the community and the trees age, the problem with sidewalks and trees requires more urgent attention.
The Board is taking this matter very seriously and consulting with professional licensed arborists to determine the best way to address these matters.
We will keep you informed as we become informed.
Sidewalk replacement will commence on Monday, November 6th (weather permitting) and continue throughout the community until completed. Please watch your step while walking.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Christine Tonetti, Property Manager
