If you live at The Villages at Huntington, you should have received an important email blast on Monday, January 8, 2018. Below is the content of that email:

Dear Residents,
We have read/heard with interest and concern your comments regarding the recent blizzard we experienced. The board agrees that our snow plowing company, Fiorini, performed below expectations. It is disappointing. We have learned from experience, that snow clearing, particularly when the storms are severe, can be problematic. This  was a major storm resulting in school and airport closings. Still, Fiorini hearing this could have anticipated problems and handled them much better. Remember, we are residents experiencing the same problems you are.
In light of the above we have called a special meeting with Fiorini this week to address their shortcomings, including – lack of back up bobcats to replace disabled ones, timeliness in adequately clearing of front and rear entrances and clearing entrance at pool parking lot, clearing  to allow access to mailboxes and hydrants, piling up excess snow in areas that block residents in………among others. If need be, of course, we have the option of signing with a new company. We would pay a premium hiring a new company mid-season – but it is an option. Our managing agent was in constant communication with Fiorini during the event. All emails and phone calls were responded to.
At our meeting, the specifics of their contract will be reviewed to determine if they were in any way not meeting contract responsibilities.
When one signs on with a company (not just snow plowing) they are vetted (company interviewed and researched, and references are followed up on), contracts are carefully prepared including specific expectations on both sides. The only real test is the results of the work they do. The proof is in the pudding, as is said.
The roads were plowed and salted and sanded and driveways were cleared. Too many driveways were missed or not adequately plowed.  Bobcats broke down and were not replaced/removed. Certainly back up equipment is important to address.
Because NAI offices were closed we were unable to send a BLAST before today. We are exploring the best way to put in place a more efficient system to contact all residents when a more immediate communication is  needed.
Thank you for understanding that we are all in this together and that all decisions and actions taken are in the best interest of all of us.
      Sincerely, The Board of Directors
